DUSTY MANN CAPTURES NASCAR REGIONAL SPORTSMAN EVENT
.WISCONSIN DELLS, WI — The 64th Annual Gandrud Performance Parts Season Opener at Dells Raceway Park saw a masterclass in short-track racing this past weekend, as Elko, Minnesota’s Dusty Mann put the NASCAR Regional Sportsman field on notice.
While Jim Cormack and Jesse Vian led the 25-lap Main Event to the green flag, the spotlight quickly shifted. Cormack controlled the pace for the opening three circuits, but the charge of the race came from the third row. Dusty Mann, starting 6th, sliced through the top five with precision, seizing the lead by lap four.
Despite a series of cautions that erased his lead and brought a "hungry pack" to his back bumper, Mann was untouchable on the restarts. Chris Harmon mounted a late-race challenge, but Mann never wavered, cruising to a definitive victory.
The Top Five:
- Dusty Mann
- Chris Harmon
- Logan Delaney
- Jared Vike
- Tommy Moore
Event Highlights:
• Fast Qualifier: Dave Trute set the pace early with a blistering $14.748$ second lap.
• Dash Winner: Dusty Mann added to his trophy haul by taking the Diamond Racing Wheels Fast Dash.
• Heat Race: Rookie Parker Wenkman proved he belongs at the front, claiming a hard-fought Heat Race victory.
The NASCAR Regional Sportsman division returns to Dells Raceway Park on May 23rd for the prestigious Lyle Nabbefeldt Tribute Night.
