WARTHAN CHARGES TO VICTORY IN 602 LM NASCAR REGIONAL
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI — Sparta’s Brad Warthan proved exactly why he was the night’s quickest qualifier, charging from deep in the field to capture the 64th Annual Gandrud Performance Parts Season Opener at Dells Raceway Park. Warthan’s gritty performance secured his first feature win of 2026 in the NASCAR Regional 602 Outlaw Late Models Presented by Lefthander Performance.
The 35-lap Main Event saw Brian Johnson Sr. and Pete Moore lead a beautiful field of 602 Outlaws to the green flag. Johnson Sr. controlled the pace for the opening six laps until Kenny Storkson ignited a charge to the front. Storkson began to pull away, building a comfortable gap while the rest of the field battled fiercely behind him.
Meanwhile, Warthan—who earlier set the pace for the night with a blistering 13.930-second qualifying lap—was systematically picking off cars from his 10th-place starting position. He climbed into the runner-up spot just as a late-race caution flew, erasing Storkson’s lead and setting up a high-stakes showdown.
On the ensuing restart, Warthan out-dueled Storkson in a door-to-door battle to seize the lead with just 10 laps remaining. While Storkson kept Warthan within his sights, he couldn't find a way back around the Sparta native. Warthan took the checkered flag in commanding fashion, followed by Storkson, Tanner Berge, Brian Johnson Sr., and Adam Hansen.
