TRIFECTA FOR TRUTE IN KALAHARI SPORTSMAN SPLASH

Wisconsin Dells WI-Dave Trute of New Lisbon, WI made late race passes to claim both of the Kalahari Splash 30 Lap Features Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park in the NASCAR Weekly Born Construction Sportsman in Feature number one Brock Behnke and Mike Krueger Jr. would bring an impressive field of Sportsman to the line. Behnke would grab the early advantage and attempt to hold of the advances of Krueger. The two would race hard and swap the lead multiple times until Krueger would eventually claim the top spot with just eight laps to go. While Kreuger and Behnke where battling out at the front the night’s fast qualifier Dave Trute would work from deep in the pack to challenge in the final two laps. Trute would gain the lead at the white flag lap in and never look back. He was followed to the line by Mike Krueger Jr., Tytus Helgestad, Bobby Giers and Logan Delaney. In feature two Cody Erickson and Derrin Salo led the field to the green with Erickson taking the early advantage. Erickson would lead the first seven until Salo would wrestle the lead away from him and try to run away. Salo would lead into the late stages when Tytus Helgestad and Dave Trute would put on a great battle for the lead. Helgestad would fade leaving the showdown between Salo and Trute. Much like the battle for feature one the battle was brief but furious as Trute would take the lead with three laps to go claiming not only the win but the Overall Sportsman Summer Splash Title. Trute was Fastest in qualifying with a lap of 14.753. In earlier action Chris Harmon would win the Sportsman Qualifying race.
