PATE WINS NASCAR REGIONAL MOD THRILLER

Wisconsin Dells WI-Matt Pate of Menomonee Fall WI won a Thriller in the Advanced Auto Parts Weekly NASCAR Blystone Towing Mods in the 63rd DRP Season opener presented by The Country Plumber. Austin Powers of Baraboo and Chuck Muller of Tomah WI brought the field to green with Powers taking control of the race from the start. Cautions would close the field up with many comers and goers but Powers held the lead until lap 21 when Mike Sandholm of Occonomowoc, WI would take the lead looking for his first win of the season when the caution flew. On what would be the final restart of the 25 lap event Mike Sandholm would have issues on the restart that would scatter the field and put Powers back to the point. This gave Pate his first chance to battle for the top spot. He would not squander it as he would make the outside pass and collect the victory on the final lap. Powers would finish second followed by Billy Prietzel of Richfield WI, Dan Howard-Baraboo and Chuck Muller. Weston Marthaler was the fast qualifier with a lap of 14.327. Dave Edwards would win the Diamond Racing Wheels Fast Dash while Bill Prietzel would win the heat. The Advanced Auto Parts NASCAR Weekly Blystone Towing Mods return to action May 17th as part of Gandrud Performance Parts Night at the races.
