LICHTFELD SCORES NASCAR WEEKLY SEASON OPENER AT DRP

Wisconsin Dells WI-The 63rd Annual Season opener was held at Dells Raceway Park Saturday night May 3rd with 95 cars timing in for all events for the NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts weekly season opener and it was defending DRP Late Model Champion Mike Lichtfeld taking home the win in the Gandrud Performance Parts Late Models Country Plumber 50. Kyle Smith of Cambridge WI and Andrew Borntreger of Hillsboro WI brought the field to green with Borntreger taking the early lead and stretching the gap on the field for the first 20 laps until and untimely flat tire would send him to the pits while leading giving command to Weston Marthaler of Glenwood MN for the next ten circuits with a mirror full of the hard charging Nick Nolden of Sun Prairie WI. Nolden would take command of the race on lap 30 until some late race cautions would tighten the field allowing Lichtfeld a shot at the win. On the restart Nolden and Lichtfeld would swap the lead lap until five laps to go when Lichtfeld took the top spot and onto his first victory of the 2025 Season. Nolden would be second followed by Jacob Goede of Carver MN, Weston Marthaler and Cole Howard of Baraboo WI rounding out the top five. Lichtfeld was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 14.051. Weston Marthaler won the Diamond Racing Wheels Fast Dash while Scott Luck from North Freedom, WI and Mike Ehde of Prairie du Chen, WI won the heat races. The Advanced Auto Parts NASCAR Weekly Gandrud Performance Parts Late Models return to action next week for Jose’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant Night at the Races where all Ladies admission will be just five dollars in honor of Mother’s Day weekend.
