FIRST CAREER WIN FOR TANNER BERGE IN 602 LATE MODELS

Wisconsin Dells WI-Tanner Berge of Elkorn WI broke through for his First Career Feature win in the 602 Outlaw Late Models on Lube USA night at DRP. Charlie Bates and Hunter Stenson brought the field to the green for their 35 lap main event. Stenson would gain the early advantage as the outside groove began to move. Ethan Rose would follow Stenson for seven laps before making his bid for the lead. Rose would claim the lead and attempt to drive away as the field raced hard in his rear view. Tanner Berge, Dennis Prunty, Alex Hartwig and Pete Moore would fight from deep in the pack to join the battle in the top five. Rose would grow the lead until a caution with just over 10 laps to go would bring the field to his rear wing. On the restart it was a 4 way battle for the top spot with the nights Fast Qualifier Tanner Berge (14.178) coming out on top, Dennis Prunty would move past Rose for 2nd. A late race caution would set up a Green White Checkered finish bringing the veteran Prunty to the rear bumper of the Rookie Berge. Try as he may the youngster was up to the challenge as Berge would claim his First Feature win. Prunty was second followed by Ethan Rose, Alex Hartwig and Pete Moore. The Fast Dash was won by Ethan Rose and the heats were won by Larry Middleton and Jon Lemke. With three races remaining on the 2023 schedule for the 602 Outlaw Late Models the point’s battle is hot. Allenton’s Dennis Prunty holds a slim 20 point lead over Alex Hartwig and a mere 45 point lead over the top 6. The 602 Outlaw Late Models return to action Labor Day Weekend as part of the ASA Midwest Tour Jim Sauter Classic 200.
