Wisconsin Dells WI 7/31/21-Joey Pontbriand of Norway Michigan captured the 30 Lap Assembly Products Sportsman Summer Shootout Saturday Night at Dells Raceway Park over Davis Junction IL driver Chad Smith, Pontbriand collected $1000 for the win.
John Zuch (Baraboo WI) and Dan Frye (Kendall WI) brought the field to green with Zuch jumping out front early. Unfortunately the clean air of being out for Zuch would not last long as contact with Frye would send Zuch spinning in front of the field sending both drivers to the rear leaving the lead to Smith. On the restart Smith would jump out front with a mirror full of Pontbriand and Randy Breunig (Columbus WI). Pontbriand would eventually make his move coming out of turn four and secure the lead for good leaving Smith and Breunig to battle for second the rest of the way. At the finish is was Pontbriand the winner, Smith held off Breunig for second, Breunig third with Mitch Lyden (Warrens WI) fourth and Steve Morgan (Lodi WI) recovering from an earlier incident coming from the rear of the field back to fifth. Earlier action saw Point Leader Chris Weber set fast time with a mark of 14.795 80.297 mph, Frye and Zuch would split the fast odd/even dashes.
