CASEY JOHNSON BACK TO VICTORY LANE

WIsconsin Dells WI-Casey Johnson of Edgerton, Wisconsin tallied his first win of 2023 with an emotional victory in the Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter 50 on Auto Value Parts Stores night at the races. Jesse Bernhagen and Luke Westenburg brought a phenomenal group of Weekly Super Late Models to the line for the first of two 50 lap features. Bernhagen would jump out to the early lead and look impressive through the first half of the race. He would lead in a dominant fashion until Championship point leader Max Kahler would break free of the group and start to reel in the 32. While the Young Caledonia, Il driver worked methodically Casey Johnson, Ryan Farrell and Fast Qualifier John Beale would work forward into the top five to battle. Kahler would draw even and after a brief battle would take the top spot from Bernhagen. The top 5 raced closely until caution flew for Second place points contender Braden Berge as his car lost power down the front stretch. This would hand the lead of the race and a commanding lead in points to Max Kahler on the restart. This however would also bring a formidable foe to the fight as Casey Johnson culminated his march to the front from the 5th row outside to battle with Kahler with 15 to go. The two Premier Super Late Model talents would battle side by side swapping the lead back and forth until the 5 of Johnson was able to clear the 17 and set sail to the checkers. Johnson would be followed to the line by Kahler, John Beale, Ryan Farrell and Jesse Bernhagen. Many of these drivers will return next week 8/12/23 for The Alive for 5 Badger State 125 Presented by Lube USA.
