DEFENDING CHAMPION PATE SCORES UMA MOD WIN

Wisconsin Dells WI-Defending DRP Modified Champion Matt Pate brought home his first UMA Asphalt Mod A Main Feature win of 2023 on Quality Freight Rate Night at the Races. Dave Swanson and Cole Howard would bring the 13 car field to the green flag for their 25 lap event. Swanson would try to hang tough on the bottom but Howard was just too strong up top as he jetted out to the early lead. The group would continue to race hard until a caution would fly bringing them back together and bringing the drivers who started deep in the field into the battle. On the restart the leaders would come together sending Howard around in front of the field to bring out the red flag ending a promising night for the 52. The ensuing restart would put Brett Wachowiacz out in front Pate and young gun Weston Marthaler chased him into the waining laps they were able to clear the 7 and begin the final chapter. With 7 laps to go Marthaler was 10 car lengths back but catching Pate substantially with 3 to go was there but a miscalculation in turn 4 would put his left side tires in the dirt and letting Pate get away. Marthaler would get back to Pate but was unable to get by as the 34 would take the flag. Behind Marthaler was Wachowiacz, Dave Edwards and Brian Muick. Weston Marthaler was the fasted mod in the house breaking the track record for the second week in a row with a 14.168. Brett Wachowiacz would win the Diamond Racing Wheels Dash and Cole Howard would win the heat race. The UMA Asphalt Mods return to action at DRP June 17th as part of Logan’s Heroes Pro Late Model Triple Crown round 2.
