MARTHALER DOUBLES IN UMA DELLS MODS

Wisconsin Dells WI-Weston Marthaler of Glenwood MN, made it 2 in a row on Lyle Nabbefeldt Tribute night at DRP. Dave Swanson and Ralph Schneider brought a strong field of UMA Asphalt Mods to the green for their 25 lap A-Main. Schneider would jump out to the early lead with the field racing hard behind him. Dave Edwards would be the first to challenge the 4 for the lead and would take it 5 laps in. Edwards would continue to lead until caution would wave over the field. On the ensuing Five Star Concrete Lane choice cone the 5 car would overheat forcing Edwards to retire from the race handing the lead to defending series Champion Matt Pate. Pate would attempt to grow the lead to no avail as the 100 of Weston Marthaler would catch him just inside 15 to go all the way from his 12th place starting spot. It would be a short but exciting battle as Marthaler would use a turn 2 slingshot to get under Pate with 12 to go. Marthaler would go on unchallenged for the checkereds and was followed to the line by Pate, Justin Okruhlica, Brad Wildes and Bill Prietzel. Weston Marthaler was also fast time with a NEW TRACK RECORD of 14.214. Jerry Blystone capture the Diamond Wheels Fast Dash while the heat races were won by Dan Howard and Ryan Lovald. The UMA Modifieds return to action June 3rd.
