BERNHAGEN HITS TRIFECTA IN CWRA NABBEFELDT 55
Wisconsin Dells WI 5/28/22-Jesse Bernhagen wins the CWRA Super Late Model Nabbefeldt Memorial 55 lap race. Mahlon Borntreger and Kirby Kurth brought the field to the green with Steve Lichtfeld powering from the 3rd position to the front on lap 4. Paul Paine and Jeff Weinfurter got in on the fight and it was a good one as the lead changed hands until eventually Lichtfeld went spinning off turn four bringing out the caution. Paine would assume the lead as the field sorted out behind him. At this point it was time for a familiar face of DRP who raced through the field to battle for the top spot. Defending Pro Late Model Champion Jesse Bernhagen fought all the way from 12th place to take the lead 32 and would battle with series veteran Mark Eswein in the closing laps but Bernhagen was just too strong as he cruised to a convincing victory. Bernhagen was followed to the line by Mark Eswein, Derek Gress, Jeff Weinfurter and Paul Paine. This was Jesse Bernhagen’s 3rd straight Nabbefeldt Memorial 55 race win. He dedicated the win to “Papa” Rick Rogers. The two CWRA Super Late Model Heat races presented by Dunkin’ Doughnuts were won by Paul Paine and Derek Gress. Fast time for the 16 CWRA Super Late Models at DRP Saturday night was Corey Jankowski with a lap of 14.582
