Lichtfeld Wins, Closes Gap on Point Leader Bernhagen

Wisconsin Dells WI 8/21/21-Portage WI driver Mike Lichtfeld added another feature win to his incredible season by winning the SIX08-Graphics 50 Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park and closing the gap to just 24 points behind point leader Jesse Bernhagen of Markesan WI heading into the season finally on September 11th for the weekly late models.

Don Gaserude of Fort Atkinson and Stephen Manke of Lodi WI brought the 20 car field to green and it was Gaserude taking the early lead. As things sorted out it was Bernhagen on the move chasing down Gaserude by lap 11 to take over the top spot with Freeport, IL driver Noah Eisenhower and Pardeeville, WI driver Jake Jump in pursuit. By the half way mark of the race Bernhagen would continue to lead with now Jump in second and Myles Marshall of Lavalle, WI in third and Lichtfleld now in fourth and Gaserude round the top five. A late race caution would tighten the field and with 9 laps to go it was Lichtfeld now on the top side of Bernhagen for the lead. Lichtfeld would not look back after that as he would capture the win with Jump in second, Bernhagen in third, Morgan Schissel of Mondovi WI claimed the fourth spot and Manke would round out the top five. Earlier action saw Lichtfeld fastest in qualifying with a mark of 14.165 83.869mph. Gaserude would capture the Clark Powersports Fast Dash, heat winners were Tod Stenson of Wisconsin Dells and James Story of Burlington WI. Nick Nolden was the winner of the B-Main earning his spot into the feature event..
