Lichtfeld Incredible in Dells Late Models

Wisconsin Dells WI 7/24/21-Mike Lichtfeld (Portage WI) put on an Incredible display of driving Saturday Night at Dells Raceway Park as he past point leader Jesse Bernhagen (Markesan WI) in the closing laps of the Incredible Cars of Cross Plains 50 for the win.

Luke Westenberg (Jefferson WI) and Morgan Schissel (Mondovi WI) brought the twenty car A-Main to green with Schissel eventually coming out on top with the lead. As the field sorted out with Schissel leading Nick Nolden (Sun Prairie) and Jesse Bernhagen would battle for second spot side by side with Riley Stenjem (Stoughton WI) now in fourth and Westenberg maintaining fifth. The only caution in the race would fly at the mid-way point setting up a 25 lap shootout to decide the winner. On the restart Schissel would grab the point but then started to slow a few laps in as he encountered a fading brake pedal and Bernhagen would pounce on the opportunity to take the lead. Bernhagen looked strong until the closing laps when Mike Lichtfeld who patiently worked his way thru the field filled his mirror and took the lead for good to capture his fourth A-Main event of the 2021 season from his tenth place starting spot. Bernhagen would finish second, Schissel held on for third while Stenjem claimed fourth and Jake Jump of Pardeeville rounded out the top five. Earlier action saw Lichtfeld top the 31 car field in qualifying with a mark of 14.250 83.368mph. Luke Westenberg won the Clark Power Sports Fast Dash, Gandrud Performance Parts heat winners were Hunter Stenson (Wisconsin Dells WI), Chris Storey (Burlington WI), and Michael Haggar (Hanover MN). The B-Main Winner was Michael Bilderback of Rockford IL which earned him a transfer spot into the A-Main along with Nick Beaver (Rosemount MN) Larry Schotten (Mauston WI) and Hunter Stenson (Wisc Dells)
