Mon Feb 16, 2009 - For the past 2 years, the off season at DRP has been a busy time of the year for the full time staff. While this year isn’t quite as busy as past years, fans will be treated to new grandstands in Turn 1. 15 rows tall and 80 feet wide, 750 seats tower above the existing seating and provide a birds-eye view to all the action on the track
“We expect these seats are going to be the hot spot on Saturday nights, with a view directly down the front straight and turn 1 right in front of you” Scott Sauerbrei, director of race operations stated. Turn 1 has always been a popular location for fans on Saturday night, however, the seating was limited, which made this location a natural choice when it came to the placement of the seating.
To help serve fans in this area, a satellite concession stand will be built directly adjacent to the grandstand. “We were in need of an additional concessions area anyway “ said co-owner Lance Fielitz. “This just seemed like a perfect opportunity to make it happen”
Good seating has been a challenge at our larger events” said co-owner Joe Graziano. “Not only did we increase our capacity significantly, these are undoubtedly the best seats in the house.”
The new grandstands will provide a perfect opportunity for advance ticket sales, starting with the ASA Midwest Tour event on opening day Saturday, April 25th
