WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (November 14, 2010) - Corey Jankowski got up to the stage, took a bow and grabbed the microphone. The now two-time late model champion, noted for his character, delivered a speech that lived up to his personality.

Jankowski, Daron Fish, Dave Trute and Brandon Junget accepted accolades as 2010 Dells Raceway Park (an ASA member track) champions on Saturday night at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

With high energy and his daughter on stage to accept the award with him, Jankowski talked about positive influence and the role racing has played for him. He spoke of his newest crew member that was provided by the ASA Educational Program and the mutual impact they had on one another.

"The influence of having Josh (Bonick) on our team was the best I had ever seen. The kid picked up on stuff and he made something of himself," Jankowski said. "He got [a scholarship] because I go around in circles. The look in his eyes is something that has influenced me more. Watching Josh get his scholarship and go on to Ohio Tech gives me the light to continue going on doing this."

After thanking his crew and family Jankowski extended another thank you to his competitors. To round out his speech Jankowski explained his appreciation for two young drivers he felt showed improvement this season - late model driver Bobby Kendall and bandit driver Haley Kapp. "These two people come to my mind that I think are going to go way above what I have accomplished."

Late model Rookie of the Year Mike Lichtfeld, who finished second in points, also shared some words. "This was a year of transition for me and I'm thrilled with the year I had," he said. Lichtfeld also explained the enjoyment he had racing with his brother Steve. "Not many people can say they race with their brother, I learned a lot from him."

Both sportsman champion Daron Fish and bandit champion Brandon Junget took an opportunity to thank their sponsors and families. Pure stock champion Dave Trute brought plenty of humor into his speech. He rounded out his speech with his plans for next year. "I'm not going to be able to drive the black and silver car next year, Bill Zeman is," Trute said of his car owner taking over the championship mount. "So we're just going to build a new one."

Several drivers announced changes that will happen next year, most in the bandit class. Brandon Junget announced he sold his bandit and will move to the pure stocks next season. Kelsey Schultz announced she will make the jump to the sportsman class in 2011. Conrad Rothenburger announced that he has been attending Ohio Technical College on a $7,500 scholarship.

One of the biggest announcements for the 2011 season came from Ed Szelogowski of Assembly Products, who announced the return of the popular shootout. "I will do everything I can to help support the growth of the track," Szelegowski said.

The dates of the shootouts will be announced shortly. Szelogowski explained he hopes to hold three shootouts this season. Two will pay the winner $1,000. Drivers from those first two shootouts will be deemed eligible for a championship shootout which will pay $2,000 to win.

Szelegowski thanked the sponsors who helped Assembly Products put on the shootouts. Blystone Towing, 3D Construction, Tiry Racing Engines, Kendall Tire and Auto, Country Plumber, Lefthander Chassis, Wegner Automotive, Culvers of Mauston, Pathfinder Chassis and Holmes Motorsports all helped with contributions.

Several giveaways were presented to drivers courtesy of DRP's contingency partners. Jesse Bernhagan and Daron Fish won awards from Five Star Stock Car Bodies. Rich Schumann Jr., Tuffy Myer and Troy Yohn each won fuel certificates from VP Fuels. Wegner Automotive awards were given to Davey Pennel and Zach Reining. Tiry's Engines certificates were awarded to Mark Hohl, Becky Grabarski and Dale Schultz. Yohn and Fish won ASA memberships for the 2011 season. Lichtfeld and Myer were presented radios from RaceComm/Racing Electronics for rookie of the year honors.

Other sponsors donated a plentiful amount of door prizes. The prizes included hats, t-shirts and some racing supplies. They were donated by All-Star Performance Racing Supplies, ASA Racing, Assembly Products, Hoosier Racing Tire, RaceComm/Racing Electronics, and VP Fuels.
