JANKOWSKI SUPER IN ALIVE FOR FIVE ROUND FIVE

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (September 10, 2011) - At the end of Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park, and the end of a wildly successful Alive For Five Super Late Model Series presented by Advanced Engine Concepts, three words were the summation - "Superstar Motorsports Rocks."

Those words were uttered by a victorious Corey Jankowski after he grabbed the 55-lap feature event, outdueling his teammate and Alive For Five Champion Frank Kreyer.

With a 55-lap Super Late Feature, a 40-lap Late Model Feature and a 20-lap Fast Dash Clash in his Late Model (both of which were third-place finishes), Jankowski made more laps than anyone at DRP Saturday night.

"This is the top, winning a (Super Late Model race) over all of these big name guys here," said Jankowski, who was piloting a Super Late Model owned by Wes Coon. "I drove this to the extreme. I burned everything up."

The win was Jankowski's first in a Super Late Model at DRP.

Jankowski and Kreyer put on a dazzling display in front of the largest crowd in recent Dells Raceway Park history. The duo raced side-by-side for nearly 15 laps and battled off several restarts, as well.

"When I got up to Frank I thought, this is story-book stuff," Jankowski said. We talked about this, what we were going to do when we butt heads out there because we're identical. We're the same age and we have the same energy."

The main event got off to a slow start with three cautions in the first three laps. AFF Round Four winner Jeff Storm was the biggest victim of the three cautions. Storm was sent spinning after contact was made with Amanda Ferguson. Without a lap completed, Storm's mount was damaged and his chance to repeat was lost.

After a spin by front runners Troy Nelson and Ken Reiser and a caution when Michael Gunderson blew a tire and was forced to come to a halt in turn three, the field started to take shape.

Pole-sitter John Zimmerman claimed the early lead with Kreyer, Dalton Zehr in close contention. While Kreyer and Zehr began to plot moves around Zimmerman, Jankowski continued to pick his way to the front. By lap 13 Jankowksi was up to fourth.

Two laps after Jankowki's move, Kreyer made his move to the inside of Zimmerman. The door was opened for Zehr to slide into second. One lap later, the caution fell again for a spin involving Tom Lichtfeld and Landry Potter.

The decision cone set Jankowski alongside Zehr in the second row behind Kreyer. Once Jankowski muscled past Zehr, he began to reel in Kreyer. By lap 18 Jankowksi and Kreyer were side-by-side, racing in close quarters.

"When I got up there I saw he was pushing and I was like a cobra, I had to attack," Jankowski said. "Once I started attacking I just couldn't quit."

Jankowski was able to get past Kreyer and began to pull away until lap 31 when another caution came out for a Frank Nitzke spin. By that point the top five conisisted of Jankowski, Kreyer, Zehr, Terry Schoppenhorst and Andy Monday.

On the restart Jankowski was able to power away from Kreyer. As he started to distance himself again, another caution disrupted his chance to run away from the pack. Kenny Reiser and Andy Monday made contact, sending Monday spinning and out of the top five.

The final restart gave Kreyer one last chance to shake his teammate. With just six laps remaining Kreyer and Jankowski made contact, but Jankowski was strong enough to hold off the charge. Zehr finished third behind the two number 51s, Schoppenhorst held on for fourth and Andrew Morrissey rounded out the top five.

With a win in Round One of the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series and four second-place finishes Kreyer was content to be the first AFF Champion, but wanted more out of grabbing his first title at his home track.

"I'm not complaining. I'm just bummed out that we didn't get more wins," Kreyer said.

For Kreyer the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series was about more than a championship. It was about bringing Super Late Models back to life at Dells Raceway Park. Perhaps the biggest win of the season for Kreyer was seeing the success achieved by the joint venture between the Super Late Model racers and promoters at DRP.

"This is home for me. I worry about this track more than any other track because this is the race track I came to when I was a kid," he said. "The group of cars we had racing here tonight was so impressive. The whole five races these guys stepped up. It's really neat to see (how) this group came together. I'm excited for what we're about to do. We all have good ideas and I can't wait until we can sit down and see what our destiny is in this."

Competitors and officials of the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series plan to announce a meeting some time in mid to late October. All news regarding the series will be available through the DRP web site.
