WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (August 26, 2011) - Dells Raceway Park announced Friday that its annual Labor Day of Doom event has been canceled.
"In the past we've been heavily reliant on one of our sponsors to help us put on Memorial Day Mayhem and The Labor Day of Doom," said Matt Panure, DRP Public Relations Director. "Unfortunately we lost their support with very little notice, and we're forced to go without the event this year."
Although the Labor Day of Doom has been canceled, officials at Dells Raceway Park are resolute to bring back the show in 2012. Plans are already in place to secure the proper materials and vehicles.
"We're going to regroup," Panure said. "We didn't want to put forth something we thought would have been a mediocre show. Our fans deserve our greatest effort and the best show we can give them. When our destruction show returns in 2012, it will be the biggest and best yet."
The next event at Dells Raceway Park is this Saturday, August 27. Rich Bickle makes his return to DRP with the Outlaw Super Late Models for an exhibition race. Kids will have a chance to win a bike donated by a DRP racer. Spectator one-on-one races will also take place.
Fan gates at Dells Raceway Park open at 4 p.m. with qualifying beginning at 4:45 and racing scheduled for 6:30. The Budweiser Late Models, RacingOnline.Com Sportsman, Schultz Small Engine Pure Stocks and Fire Rescue Supply Bandits will be on hand for a complete racing program.
Dells Raceway Park is located at N1070 Smith Road, five minutes north of downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wis., off highway 12-16. For more information including the latest news, the 2011 schedule and more visit www.dellsracewaypark.com.
