WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (July 20, 2011) - One of the most well-known Super Late Model drivers in the Midwest is making his return to Dells Raceway Park Saturday. According to car owner Pete Kempf, Steve Holzhausen will join the field in the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series presented by Advanced Engine Concepts.
Holzhausen's return marks the first time he has been back to Wisconsin's Showcase Short Track since his incident in practice for the ASA Midwest Tour Wisconsin Dells 100 last August.
Since that time Holzhausen, of Bangor, Wis., has raced in two Super Late Model events in the area. After turning the third fastest lap at Marshfield Motor Speedway on July 2, Holzhausen was the first to retire in the ASA Midwest Tour event at the half-mile.
He returned to action one week later in the $10,000 to win ASAMT event at Elko, where he won the qualifying race and finished ninth in the feature. The big money was taken home by his son, Skylar.
In his three trips to DRP in 2009 Holzhausen, the 1980 DRP Track Champion, finished second in both ASAMT events on May 30 and July 18, and fourth in the Wisconsin Challenge Series North American Cup on July 4.
Holzhausen will take on current Alive For Five point leaders Frank Kreyer, Jeff Storm and Dennis Prunty as well as former Track Champions John Zimmerman and Ken Reiser in a 55-lap feature event.
The Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Bandits will join the Super Late Models at Dells Raceway Park this Saturday for the Mid-Summer Meltdown. Qualifying is at 4:45 p.m. with racing scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
Dells Raceway Park is located at N1070 Smith Road, five minutes north of downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wis., off highway 12-16. For more information including the latest news, the 2011 schedule and more visit www.dellsracewaypark.com.
