WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (June 29, 2011) - The 2011 North American Cup Weekend at Dells Raceway Park promises to be one of the most action-packed in recent history. Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 will provide a total of six feature events.
Making its second appearance in as many seasons, the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series will be the only division competing on both days. The MSRXSS will qualify for the BioBased U.S/Must See Racing Nationals on Friday and complete its program Saturday.
A new event will be brought with the Sprints on Friday, as well. The fastest 12 Must See Sprinters will compete in an event dubbed crack the whip. After a full inversion of the fastest 12, the Sprinters will work to dash through traffic. Beginning on lap three, the last-place car will be eliminated until only the fastest driver remains.
The Sprinters will return Saturday to compete in preliminaries and the 50-lap BioBased U.S./Must See Racing Nationals Feature event. Last season Bobby East was victorious in the feature event and Dave Baumgardner set a blazing new track record of 11.358 seconds. Drivers from seven states and Canada are expected to make the trip to Wisconsin's Showcase Short Track.
One fast Friday will also usher in another appearance of the Super Late Models. After a successful return on May 28, the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series presented by Advanced Engine Concepts expects growth on Friday. After a turnout of 17 Super Lates in May, the expected entry list for Friday already sits at 26.
The Super Late Models last competed in the North American Cup under the Wisconsin Challenge Series moniker in 2009. That event was won by Chris Weinkauf. A full program culminating in a 55-lap feature will take place for the Super Lates on Friday. Former North American Cup winner Frank Kreyer is poised to return to defend his AFF Round One win. Drivers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan and Florida are expected to compete.
After fans take the time to catch their breath on Friday night, Saturday brings the full Dells Raceway Park program to join the Sprint Cars. The Budweiser Late Models, RacingOnline.Com Sportsman, Schultz Small Engine Pure Stocks and Fire Rescue Supply Bandits hit the midway point of the season and continue to battle for championship standing.
Once the action on the circle track has subsided for the weekend, the infield will be in the spotlight on Sunday. The Action Auto Demo Derby brings four divisions of a smash-up spectacle to round out the weekend. At the conclusion of the mayhem, a large fireworks display will round out the weekend.
