WORLD RECORD HOLDER BLONDE GAINING MOMENTUM FOR DELLS RACEWAY PARK

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (June 23, 2011) - At the midway point of March Jason Blonde found himself on top of the World's speed charts. Setting a pace of 13.245 seconds at 144.871 mph around Bristol Motor Speedway, the Lichtfield, Mich. driver received accolades not only for himself, but also for the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series.

Blonde, however, had little time to soak in the accomplishment as the MSRXSS season kicked off just a few weeks later. The accomplishment was dampened even further as Blonde experienced a violent wreck in the season opening event at Salem during practice.

"We went from an extreme high to an extreme low," Blonde said.

After nearly two months off for the MSRXSS schedule, Blonde followed up his disappointment at Salem with a second-place run at Berlin on June 4.

"It's been up and down," Blonde said. "You can run (well) one weekend with a top five and the next weekend break or crash. So we need to focus on getting more consistent and finishing races in the top five."

The Sprinters will compete this Saturday, June 25 at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Mich., before heading to Dells Raceway Park for a two-day stay in the Badger State Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2. The MSRXSS rounds out the weekend-long BioBased U.S./Must See Racing Nationals on Sunday, July 3 at Rockford (Ill.) Speedway.

Blonde said there isn't much different in the approach to a two-day show as opposed to a show that would be completed in one day.

"Any two day show you just take it how it is," he said. "Usually you have to worry about tires, but these new American Racer tires come back every time you go back on the track. With these tires, it just makes things so much easier."

Blonde said he is aware that most Sprint racing happens on the dirt in the state of Wisconsin. He and his fellow MSRXSS drivers are ready to prove that Sprint racing is just as good on the tar.

"Basically when you leave the track you don't have to go home and take a shower," he joked when asked about the differences.

"In the past, I don't know if it was the tires or what, but it used to be follow-the-leader on pavement. But now the cars are so much faster, the tires are better. We're all two-wide, three-wide racing so that makes it a lot more exciting compared to what it used to be in the past. Really it's the same exciting racing."

Typically one of the fastest men when the Must See Sprinters come to town, Blonde set fast time at Salem and Kalamazoo in 2010. He and the rest of the Sprinters will all be gunning for Dave Baumgardner's track record of 11.358 seconds.

"The car has been really fast for qualifying," Blonde said. "We've had good motors, good cars, and good setups. That's what we need to work on a little so we can get some faster laps."

A return to take a shot at the track record has Blonde hopeful that he and his BioBased U.S. sponsored team owned by Wilshe Motorsports can start to find some traction in this 2011 season. He said it starts with a consistent weekend, and hopes to find a top three in the main event to be held on Saturday night.

"We're looking forward to coming to the Dells," Blonde said. "They take care of everybody and the fans and everyone are really nice. That's what makes it fun is when the place treats you like a king when you come there."

In his appearance last season Blonde finished third to Bobby East and MSRXSS Champion Troy DeCaire. Blonde said he enjoyed DRP's layout and thought it made for excellent racing conditions.

"It has two lanes of racing and you're able to pass guys on the top side. That's the biggest thing," he said. "It took me all 50 laps to really find out what to do."

Once Blonde started to get a feel for DRP he made a run to a podium finish.

"Where I found the car works best is right on the bottom," he said. "I was trying to work the top the whole first half of the race and I was a lot faster on the bottom. I actually found that in the last ten laps when it was a little too late."

If Blonde is to venture to the bottom side, he will be subject to the new concrete groove that has been proving itself as a variable to DRP racers all season long.
