DELLS RACEWAY PARK HOSTS EXTRAVAGANT MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND LINEUP

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (May 24, 2011) - Dells Raceway Park officials are resting up early this week - they're going to need it. With two big shows to highlight the Memorial Day Weekend, there will be a flurry of action at Wisconsin's Showcase Short Track.

Saturday sees the return of Super Late Model racing to Dells Raceway Park in the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series presented by Advanced Engine Concepts. Drivers young and old, from near and far have signed up to help revitalize the class at DRP.

Among those drivers are former track champions Ken Reiser (Waukan, Iowa) and John Zimmerman (Markesan, Wis.), current Slinger Speedway point leader Mike Egan (Slinger, Wis.), last year's Slinger runner-up Dennis Prunty (Lomira, Wis.), ASA Midwest Touring Star Jeff Storm (Waterford, Wis.) and up-and-comers Robert Kendall (Montello, Wis.), Anthony Campi (Sarasota, Fla.) and Matt Tift (Hinkley, Ohio).

Due to the cancellation of last week's program the Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and Bandits will kick off their 2011 season. With the Super Late Models on hand, two defending champions will be in scramble mode. Defending Late Model Champion Corey Jankowski and Defending Pure Stock Champion Dave Trute will both also pilot Super Late Model machines.

Saturday is also the first of four bike nights. All kids 12 and under can sign up to win a new bike donated by a DRP racer. As a treat to the adult fans, the debut of Spectator Drags will take place on Saturday. Anyone with a street legal car will be permitted to compete in the one-on-one match race competition.

Fan gates for the Memorial Day Special and Alive For Five Super Late Model Series open at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 4:30, with the first green flag of the 2011 season scheduled to fall at 6:30.

When Saturday's program concludes, officials will begin setting the stage for Sunday's Memorial Day Mayhem.

This season will see a twist or two to the mayhem - literally. The bus races, skid plate races, trailers races, relay races and chain races will all be set loose through a new figure-8 layout. Also on hand will be the Demolition Devil, Stunt Bike Racer Joey B and the Hedgehog Stunt ATV team.

Fan gates open at 4 p.m. with the mayhem scheduled to begin at 6.

There will be no increase in admission for either event this weekend. Tickets prices for both shows are $10 for an adult, $7 for youth (age 10-15) and seniors (62+), and kids 9 and under are admitted free.

Dells Raceway Park is located at N1070 Smith Road, five minutes north of downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wis., off highway 12-16. For more information including the latest news, the 2011 schedule and more visit www.dellsracewaypark.com.
