WEGNER AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH FAST DASH CLASH AT DRP PROMISES TO BE A SPECTACLE

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (May 10, 2011) - The best of the best at Dells Raceway Park will have a new format and cash prize awaiting them as the 2011 season reaches its climax. Wegner Automotive Research has teamed with DRP to present the Fast Dash Clash.

The Wegner Automotive Research Fast Dash Clash will take place on Sept. 3 and will replace the Assembly Products Shootout, as Assembly Products has decided to go in a different direction this season.

Wegner Automotive Research has put up $2,000 in the winner-take-all event. The rest of the field will not go away empty handed, however, as cash and thousands of dollars of contingency prizes will be split among the remaining finishers.

"As long as it puts money in the racer's pockets it's a good thing," said Carl Wegner, owner of Wegner Automotive Research. "Whatever it takes to help the track and the racers...How you perform and how you support your customers and competitors is where our business comes from."

Along with helping the racers, Wegner said he was happy to help DRP provide an extra spectacle for the fans. He also said he would like to see more fan involvement in the track. DRP will oblige, making the Fast Dash Clash a fan-friendly, interactive event.

Drivers who qualify into the FDC will be available to sign autographs for fans in the stands during the drivers meeting prior to the start of racing. When the FDC concludes, all participating drivers will stop on the track and fans will be invited down to participate in the victory lane celebration and chat with the elite group right at the conclusion of the race.

Similar to last season's shootouts, drivers will become eligible for the FDC by qualifying into the fast dash. Drivers will be awarded through a separate point system based on their finishes in the dash. The top nine drivers who accumulate the most points through the dashes automatically qualify. One or more provisionals are added to fill the field, with several alternates on deck in case a driver is unable to participate.

As opposed to a multi-race situation, the dramatics will last all season as drivers will accumulate points each week leading up to the FDC.

Qualification for the Wegner Automotive Research Fast Dash Clash begins on Opening Day, May 21, as Dells Raceway Park kicks off its 49th season of racing. The evening's events begin with the Automotion Burnout contest at 5:30. In addition, the Vintage Cars will be joining the four weekly DRP classes. Qualifying at 3:30, Racing at 6:30.

Wegner Automotive research formed in 1975 when Carl Wegner began working on engines in his machine shed. Wegner worked on everything from hot rods to pickup trucks to farm tractors.
