(Thursday, April 22, 2010) The 2010 inaugural season for the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour (ASAMST) kicks off this Saturday, April 24th, with the Cabin Fever 75 at Dells Raceway Park (DRP) in Wisconsin Dells, WI. This is a stand-alone ASAMST event and the first of ten events for the Sportsman division who will be travelling with the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net series throughout much of the 2010 season.
Dells Raceway Park has made some changes to their 2010 line-up and one of those changes is working together with the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour. “We have made some changes to our 2010 lineup,” Joe Graziano, track co-owner said. “Our weekly show will feature late models as our top division. We have migrated our Super Stock division to align with the new ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour division and I think we will see a great car count from that.” The debut of the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour is expected to exceed 30 or more entries.
"We are ecstatic about getting the opener under way for the Sportsman Tour. There has been a lot of interest in the series and there are even a lot more out there just watching for a little while to see how things go. It is going to take some time, but we are very happy with the response we have had so far. It is going to be an excellent division and we have some pretty darn good racers coming to race the tour. We are very thankful for the veterans that have committed to taking ownership of the new Sportsman Tour”, stated Steve Einhaus ASAMT VP and Tim Olson, ASAMT President.
Dells Raceway Park (DRP), an ASA member track, is a 1/3-mile track known for its nose to tail racing, which is sure to provide pure excitement as the Sportsman Tour drivers take to the track. The track has approximately 9 degrees of banking in the corners and 6 degrees of banking along the straight-a ways.
Events will get underway Saturday April 24th with the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour pit gate, tire sales and pre-tech opening at 10:00AM. Practice for all divisions will start at 12:30PM on a rotating schedule with all practice commencing at 3:00PM.
Qualifying for all divisions will start at 3:30PM followed by a full racing program at 5:30PM. For more information or details about Dells Raceway Park, log on to www.dellsracewaypark.com.
