WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (January 28, 2011) - Dells Raceway Park will begin its 49th season of action on Saturday, May 21. The event will showcase the past, present and future of racing at the historic third-mile.
For the second consecutive season, DRP will welcome participants of the Automotion Car Show. Now celebrating its 25th year, Automotion has displayed classic cars in downtown Wisconsin Dells to millions of automotive enthusiasts. Participants from Automotion will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to compete in a burnout contest.
In addition to all four weekly divisions, vintage cars will also be on hand for the season opener, stirring up memories of past race days at the venue. The vintage cars will compete as part of the normal race day event. Qualifying will begin at 3:30 p.m., with racing slated to begin at 6:30.
Prior to opening day fans are invited to attend open DRP practice sessions. Grandstand admission will be free on the two Saturdays before opening day, May 7 and 14. Practice begins at noon on May 7 and 10 a.m. on May 14. Pit gates open at 8 a.m. on both days, with technical inspection to follow shortly after.
Fans are invited to bring Mom for a picnic during practice on May 7. The most elaborate picnic setup will win four free passes to opening night. An autograph session with DRP drivers will take place after practice on May 14. Super Cups and the Midwest Enduro Series also will be hosting race events on that day, beginning at 4 p.m.
