WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (January 10, 2011) Dells Raceway Park officials will meet for a second time with super late model drivers and teams this coming Saturday, January 15 at Leo's Upper Dells Bar in Lyndon Station.
The meeting will lay out the approach of bringing super late models back to DRP, lay out a schedule and discuss rules.
DRP officials have been in contact with several super late model drivers and team members to fine tune the new joint-effort approach to hosting super late model events. The original meeting proposed significantly reducing the cost of entry for super late model competitors with little or no purse.
Since that time, further discussion has added twists to the plan. Many drivers suggested a base purse funded by sponsors, secured by the drivers themselves. This twist engages the enormous marketing power held by super late model drivers.
Drivers who bring more sponsorship to the table could then be further rewarded with complementary tires, fuel, or pit passes. So far several sponsors have contributed to this general fund. Other incentives/bonuses for super late model drivers will be proposed at the meeting.
All drivers and teams planning to race at DRP in 2011 are encouraged to attend and have their voices heard. Drivers unable to attend may contact Race Director Scott Sauerbrei by phone at 920-428-6922 or e-mail scott@dellsracewaypark.com or Marketing and PR Director Matt Panure by phone at 920-360-7618 or e-mail matt@dellsracewaypark.com.
Leo's Upper Dells Bar is located at 147 Wisconsin St. in Lyndon Station just off Highway 12-16.
