KLEIN HOLDS OFF LENSING FOR THE FEATURE WIN AT DELLS RACEWAY PARK
Lichtfeld, Janokowski, Selsing, and Jeske also picked up wins on Mountain Dew Night.

By: Kevin Ramsell
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI (Saturday, August 16, 2008) - Dave Klein and Dan Lensing capped off a great night of racing at Dells Raceway Park, an American Speed Association Member Track, with a finish that was close as a blink of an eye.  The two would get the fans on their feet for a great finish in the Super Late Model feature event.

Klein got the early lead in the Mountain Dew 50-lap main event.  While Klein pulled away from Dave Trute, it was fast qualifier Dan Lensing making the move to the front.  By lap 29, he was up to third and challenging Trute for the spot.

Lensing would go on the outside of Trute to battle for second on lap 35, but Trute would hold on to the spot with Klein just ahead of them.

With eight laps to go, Lensing would get past Trute for second and chase down Klein.  Lensing would catch Klein with four laps to go and the battle was on.  Lensing was looking for a way to get by him and on the last lap he went on the outside of Klein.

The two battled side-by-side all the way to the checkered flag where Klein beat Lensing by 0.010 seconds.  Trute would finish third with Jeff Kendall in fourth.  Terry Patnode would round out the top-five.

Trute won his first heat race at DRP with Klein winning the second heat.  Lensing got the fast time of the evening with a lap time of 13.297 seconds (90.245 mph).

Lichtfeld gets his second win in the Limited Late Model division.

Lichtfeld took the early lead in the 35-lap feature after battling Scott McGettigan for the top spot.

A scary wreck occurred on lap 10 when Jesse Bernhagen and Shane Poehnelt got together in turns one and two.  Bernhagen was on the inside when Poehnelt got sideways on the outside.  Andy Niles had nowhere to go but to the back of Bernhagen, causing Bernhagen to go over Poehnelt's car and roll onto its roof.  Bernhagen was able to walk away.  Bernhagen and Poehnelt were done for the evening.  Niles was able to continue.

Lichtfeld continued to lead while being challenged by Nick Nolden for the top spot.  Nolden would get a test from Kurt Clapper for the second spot in the late going allowing Lichtfeld to get his second Limited Late Model feature win by going wire-to-wire.

Nolden would hold off Clapper for second with McGettigan in fourth.  Mike Ehde would round out the top five.

Jesse Pokszyk and Nick Nolden took home heat wins while Joel Soenksen was the fast qualifier with a time of 14.452 seconds (83.033 mph).

Janokowski easily picked up another feature win in the Super Stock feature.

Dave Dederich and Dave Swanson put on a great side-by-side battle for the top spot throughout the early going of the 30-lap feature event.  Dederich would win that battle and get the lead.

Janokowski started sixth and jumped up to third by lap 13.  A lap later he would go to second.  Using the outside line, he would catapault ahead on the outside to challenge Dederich for the lead on lap 15.  The two ran side-by-side for two laps until Janokowski pulled away to another win.

Dederich held on to second with Scott Luck in third.  Mike Lichtfeld was fourth with John Zuch finishing in fifth.

Brad Muller and Brian Warner won the heats with Travis Hancock setting a fast time of 14.921 seconds (80.423 mph).

Selsing made a great debut at Dells Raceway Park this season by taking the feature win in the Pure Stock division.

It was a wire-to-wire win for Selsing as he started on the pole for the 25-lap feature event.  While Selsing ran out front, the fans saw a great battle for second with Daron Fish and Lenny Raupp putting on a great fender banging battle for second.  Fish would win that battle while Raupp would give up third to Brad Luck.

At the finish it was Selsing with the win, with Fish in second and Luck in third.  Raupp was fourth and Kevin Gilding rounded out the top five.

Ben Monday and Bobby Selsing won the heats with Luck grabbing the fast time with a lap of 16.291 seconds (73.660 mph).

Jeske won a close Wisconsin Sports Truck feature battle.

Jeff Lookes was the early leader in the 20-lap feature.  Lookes was leading until Jeske flew past him at the halfway for the lead.

The last lap was a wild one as four trucks were battling for the win.  As they came off of turn four, it was Jeske taking the win while Regan May had to hold off Kyle Quella, who went down in the dirt as a way to get by May, for second.  Lookes would finish fourth.  Todd Kostichke rounded out the top five.

Quella and Sam Haven won the Wisconsin Sport Truck heats.  Dustin Jaloszynski set a fast time of 15.770 seconds.

It will be a special night next Saturday as the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series will challenge the 1/3-mile oval with their 800hp Asphalt Winged Outlaw Sprint cars sponsored by Ho-Chunk.  The Limited Late Models, Super Stock, Pure Stock and Rascal Outlaws will also be in action.  The racing will get underway at 6:30 pm.
